Spiegelonline marginalizing the oil spill
Besides from not reporting oil spill on the front page most of the time spiegel.de, left centric nes media seems to be very focussed on the financial fallout of the whole oil spill.
Lots of coverage of costs not covered, billions BP might owe to somebody and the british government preparing to bail out BP.
Whats missing is massive coverage of the poisons BP put into the gulf of mexico when they tired using dispersiants on the oil to make the whole thing go away and the massive impact on the nature of the spilled oil. While american press seems to slowly catch up, supported by massive effort of citizen jounalists, bloggers and eco activists (remember 3 monaths away government told us they where kinda terrorists).
This is really baffling, considering the fact that photo coverage is very easy to produce and very easy to monetize (people love clicking the photosets on news pages and it creates good numbers for websites). Most times photosets on pages contain little or no extra information, but in this case it could educate people and visualize the fallout of the oil spill for all the people in all it’s drama. Speaking of drama, wasn’t the press this thing that was so keen to use each possible chance to show us drama, blood and apocalyptict scenarios all day long to get our attention? Wasn’t the media complaining about consumers beeing more and more blunted by violent pictures asking for more? Now they have the chance to show us all we ever “asked” for: apocalyptic pictures, dying life on a giantic scale, poisonous water on a shoreline maybe hundrets or even tousands of kilometers long etc. What are they talking about? The money issues.
Okay, i am just picking spiegelonline as an example but the way this works is pretty much standard in each lamestream media website here in gitmonation germany. Missing the direct pressure of citizen jounalists the media companies can go on with the marginalization telling us the whole problem will be fixed when all the oil is out of the gulf of mexico.
I call out all german lamestream news media
- as douchebags (in the morning for those who know)
- as totally on board of the ministry of truths story
- of beeing totally phased, we germans can smell Gleichschaltung when it comes close
- of beeing the main problem. BP is completely helpless and occupied fixing the hole. US Goverment collects what the oil fallout leaves behind. But media communicates the story that sort of the only problem is the above described financial and fiscal problems as result of the spill.
Citizens of the interwebs, we are lucky fuckers when the lamestream media goes down in its struggle to find models to monetarize it’s manipulated, biased and maginalizing content. Citizen jounalists are doing the real job actually and lamestream media fills our mind with wrong prioritized informations. It’s not time to protest BP, it’s not the time to protest the US Government; It’s time to protest our media spinning the oil spill information in the worst ways thinkable and clearly not doing the job the are supposed to do.

Why germany is a true gitmo nation
The no agenda show defines gitmo nation according to wikipedia as
Gitmo Nation- The combined United States (Gitmo Nation West), United Kingdom (Gitmo Nation East) and Netherlands (Gitmo Nation Lowlands)[5] whose governments, in the eyes of the hosts, are in the process of stripping citizens of their rights. The phrase comes from the terrorist prison camp at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. During the introduction to the show the hosts tell the listeners from which part of Gitmo Nation they are broadcasting. John usually is at his home in “Northern Silicon Valley” and adds that location after he states he is in Gitmo Nation West. When he is at his compound in Port Angeles, Washington he says that he is speaking from Gitmo Nation Northwest.
So why the cynicism and call out germany as one of the gitmo nations at all anyway?
- Germany actively takes part in the illegal war in afghanistan to make sure freedom and free flow of goods (free trade) is ensured for us
- We allowed the CIA to transport people they declared as islamist terrorists thorugh our airspace and allowed the transport flights to land here
- Germany is part of americas strategy on the war on terror and is a good citizen in this case
- Germany had 2 dicatorships in the timeframe of 70 years. A hardcore fascist and a moderate socialist (no gulag but a lot of the rest).
- We are part of every darkplot that tries to undermine rights via international agreements for example ACTA (which is secret and freedom of information requests are not answered)
- Lots of tapped phonelines
- A stupid war on leftwing so called terrorists while completely downplaying rightwing extremists
- Supression of the poor via a inhumane part of the social system called hartz IV. including forced labour for long term workless people (no state money if you do not take a 1 EURO / hour job)
- There are 90% spun stories in state and private media with all the standard techniques
I could for on with this for hours and I am really really really angry right now that the germans are seen as relatively moderate by our neighbours and other countries. We have pretty much the same problems as described in every no agenda podcast.
This blog aims to be a small look into germanys press and politics for everyone who is not speaking german.

The german mainstream media and the oild spill in month 3
Slowly the US media seems to get traction in the oil spill area and a lot of horrible photos emerge in the mainstream media. Here in germany the whole story seems not to be frontpageworthy anymore.
German mainstream press seems to pretty much ignore especially the latest developments, events and rumors. So here roundabout what the german press seems to read out of the press releases they get via DPA and REUTERS:- Lots of reporting about one hole in the ground spilling oil.
- Media Blackout pretty much underreported
- Not very much Image footage
- Lots of reporting about Obama and the BP hearings
- The daily news on our state-aided ARD and ZDF stations do not care enough to keep it in the news every day
- Today the only story making it to the biggest german news portals homepage (spiegel.de - left-center) is about ancient wrecks that might be covered in oil in deep water. It’s in the science part of the site, teasered on the homepage
- FAZ.net (conservative) only covers the story of the tanker on it’s homepage
- Focus.de (conservative) tells us on the homepage that BP paid alread 3.000.000.000 US Dollars and the hope for the new supertanker (when everyone who is sane enough to use google already knows that the first tests where negative)
Sounds like the the germans have not checked out the fact that there may be need for lots more coverage and there is a little more story then the official news and press releases. On the other hand every lamestream news media site seems to be pretty much reporting about
- WM - Gemany beating Argentina
- Bavaria voting about getting even more rigid laws regarding smoking in public places
What really surprises me that a lot of websites didn’t even do the effort and create some oil spill landing pages.
From my point of view this is a real clear example on what payroll the so called free press is and even the state-aided press is blowing the same horn (or not in this case). Taking into consideration that this maybe exceeds the Tschernobyl disaster a very bad impression in my eyes.
